Happy Birthday Eric!

Oh cool and Oh Bummer! The joys of summer! I've been on this date kick for a couple of days. I can't get enough of them. I go to the Turkish market and get the good ones. I munch on them at work or at night when I'm in bed reading, no crumbs! And I absolutely love prunes. People make fun until I ask them to try one from the market. Then its "Oh yeah, these really ARE delicious!" I put em out at parties, sit back and watch the mayhem, arguments, discussions, anger and resentment. Always stash some extra TP and maybe some baby wipes.

I finally got one check from months and months ago, still missing another from 2 months ago plus out of pocket expenses. Chasing money feels a lot like chasing the dragon. Feels great once you start, but after a while, you realize you might not ever catch up, and turning back is like giving up.

I'm heading over to E's house today to pull apart our broken laptops (we have the same make and model) and see if we can get one working Ubuntu or Mint Linux machine out of the deal. Windows is great and Windows 7 might actually be the most stable MS OS since Win2000, but neither one of us are that keen on paying for stuff or stealing. I think he should keep the laptop if we get it working since yesterday was his birthday, and I have an old Toshiba my fiance let me keep and tinker with. I'll keep the extra ram and hard drive, though. He suspects his motherboard to be NFG (no fucking good, a technical term) and on mine the screws where the hinge for the monitor connect to the bottom piece of housing came out and the hinge is loose, thereby causing the cover of the keyboard to lift up,crack, chip off, and disconnect the cables powering the monitor every time I open it. Am I making sense; its my first cup of coffee.

The two laptops I got working have sold this month. I think I gave everyone more than a fair deal at $100 each. Mom's computer needs a new battery, though. I feel pretty bad about selling her one that has a shitty battery, but I didn't know it would fart out so soon. The other one was bought by a local in Brooklyn. I haven't made it to a meeting in a couple of days because of work, but I have been calling my network of guys that I trust to let em know I'm not in a gutter covered in fruit flavored brandy and bodily fluids somewhere near the Verrazano Bridge. I really was trying to do 90 in 90 days, but shit happens, and I don't think anyone will think less of me for getting a few good work calls. Speaking of work, we got lost in Jersey for a little while, and then the shop we were supposed to drop the wig box off at was closed at 3pm (must be nice to go home at 3). At least I don't mind being stuck in a truck with my friend and crew boss, who I've only known for a couple of years, but 9 months of that was living on a tour bus. I think that's worth about a decade of knowing someone.

Quiet Sunday

Sunday, sweet gentle Sunday. I'll stay indoors, catch up on my sleep. I promise to post some stories about touring as soon as I can remember what the fuck happened during all those years. I'll have to make a few embarrassing phone calls to clear up some of the fuzzy details. Don't do drugs and stay in school!

I'm glad my week is over. It's the first week of work I've had in a while, and after sitting on my ass for so long, I am completely fried. Freelancing can be a bitch. You always have to hustle for work, but the overtime is nice when you can get it. So, I guess I shouldn't complain.

The highlight of Friday night was when the ladies room in the lobby flooded because of the heavy rain. The men's room became co-ed. I hope there wasn't some unlucky woman backing one out when the flood came.
